Anybody ever complete a Continental Suspension Conversion?
I need some help from somebody experienced in this project. I got the back shocks done with no problem, but in the front, I can't seem to get the strut to fit...I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong, or if there is a way to compress the strut, to make it fit. If anybody can help me, I'll appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

Re: Anybody ever complete a Continental Suspension Conversion?
I have done suspension conversion on my 1996 Continental. I purchased mine from Arnott through e-bay for $549.00 with free shipping. Their web site makes it sound easy "No special tools or spring compressors are required to complete the installation" but I had to pay another $250.00 to have it installed. Do a little more research, Arnott struts and springs are made in China and quality is not very impressive. The car rides ok but not like the air ride. My car has 110K miles and runs great so I had to fix the suspension. Good luck.
Here is their web site: www.arnottinc.com |

Re: Anybody ever complete a Continental Suspension Conversion?
I couldn't even find anyone around here to work on this project. None of my local garages were willing to do the job. At this point, I couldn't even get it to a garage if I found one, because the front is all torn apart, and I can't get the new strut on anyway, so I can't drive it.
Somebody please help! |

Re: Anybody ever complete a Continental Suspension Conversion?
You haven’t done anything wrong; you do have to compress the springs in order to get the struts to fit. Please don’t try to compress them in your driveway it’s very dangerous. Here is what I had to do, once it darned on me that it was impossible to get the struts fit, I put my old struts in with no front bags and drove the car very slowly to my mechanic’s shop. Try to find a small shop; they are more willing to do this kind of work. I know it is very frustrating, I wasted whole week trying to fix my car. Good luck.
For Bobbdude, yes you can replace just the back with conversion kit. |

Re: Anybody ever complete a Continental Suspension Conversion?
I bought a conversion kit from Stutmasters several years ago.
It was simple and I performed all the work from my apartment parking lot. No lifts or special tools. The struts were already mounted, I just dropped them in, no compression of springs needed. |

Just did one. Strutmasters/suncore industries for parts. Works real well, parts fit great. PM if you need help.
