idle
88 accord 5 speed,carb, at cold start it idles very high(2600)and smokes alot(white)smells like gas.after it warms up it idles so low it tries 2 die and does sometimes.any ideas would b appreciated thx and oh by the way...GO COLTS lol

What im getting at is your carb sounds like it needs to be adjusted. There is a black plastic screw looking thing that adjusts the idle RPMs. Also you can use the throttle cable hex bolts to set the idle speed with that too. Another adjustment is on the top near the carb flap. mine was a gold colored flathead screw. That adjusts how much fuel you let into the carb. I wouldn't touch that, but I thought I should throw that out there in case you wanted to know. Mine was sitting for a long time so I took the carb out of the engine and cleaned it up using a rebuild kit. It works great now minus a new problem involving fuel tank pressure I believe. |
