Some 84 Issues

My 84 305 has some issues i need help with. i pulled some spark plugs 1,3,5,7,2. they all (not sure about 4,6,8) and they all look like the pics below, are wet and smell like gas. it looks like oil is on them too?? the car starts fine and idles fine but during driving it accelerates but then bogs down. i have to punch the gas to get through that. i usually put it in cruise control on the highway to prevent that but any incline and it starts to do it. plugs, wires, cap, coil, are no more than 6 mos. old. what should i look for or do next? the catalytic converter is busted FYI. i don't know if that plays a part.

before i spend the $ to fix the engine issues, look at the pics below here. at what point do i consider it beyond repair? is it already? what would you do if your car looked like this underneath? should i look to find another car and write this one off ? I also had plans on getting new paint and customizing it to a certaun extent. Obviously the rust issue is more pressing but is there anything that can even be done to fix/cure it? This will probably be my daily driver through winter unless i can find a cheap station car or something.

Re: Some 84 Issues

yea that rust looks pretty bad bro... me personally... i would look for another car to fix up... getting rid of all that rust is something your gonna want to do and its gonna be a pain in the ass... as far as the car not runing right that could be just the the fact that there are so many wholes in the exauhst and its not getting propper compression. I think a cracked roller rocker or something causes the gas on the plugs but that isnt good...my advice is see what it would take to get rid of the rust... cuz i have know idea.... you could always full the valve covvers off and look and see if there is oil build up in theere

the pictures are great , the content however reveals its time to put the beast down...too much frame rot...this is un safe...to see holes in such a heavy thick frame that this once was , I'm surprised you still have the courage to drive it..

the plugs and the cat converter picture reveal to me way to much fuel is entering the combustion chamber and as a result you cat converters melted internally ...I can see the picture of them which looks like a blow touch had them glowing red at so point..

this could be the emissions control system...a valve diaphram ruptures causing gas to get sucked into the intake manifold by way of these vacuum purge lines to this fuel vapor control...

damn, i had a feeling that would be the suggestion but i was still holding out hope for her. how do you suggest i do it? just take it to the junkyard? put an ad for people to part out? call a donation place? i'll need to get as much cash as possible in getting rid of it so i can get some cheap wheels for the winter.

I would sell it ...if this then don't sell have scrap yard take it away..
donation is good idea..then it is possible we get another OBAMA cash for clunker deal....4500.oo toward a new vehicle is great deal..

finding a replacement cheap would be hard to find though ...alot of people looking for old cars cheap...cost for the old cars has gone up...since fuel prices have stabilized..

I still can't believe how much that frame metal is swiss cheese..
