I've got it straight piped off my headers, back to a factory like/cherry bomb shaped muffler, but mine's still loud as hell, so yea it would be alright to do that I guess, but ur gonna lose horses when you put a stock muffler on, I mean the pipe is like 1" commin out the back of that thing eh?

cause the stock muffler is restrictive as fuck! Which is the reason aftermarket exhaust systems exist.

You dont get more horsepower by going with any stock muffler. Why do you think that people take them off and get aftermarket ones? They flow better.
Besides if you want more HP get a NOS sticker they are worth 5hp a piece.

LOL dude...Mmmmmm stickers

Yo BLKsi, the straight pipe isn't really the issue...it is the restrictive 1.25" pipe and crush style bends that are behind the catalytic converter that is the issue. The cat has a 2.25" (I think, at least a 2") connector on it, so you can simply get either an aftermarket cat-back muffler, or do what I did, and go to a muffler shop and ask for a turbo-style (i.e. high flow, less restrictive) muffler with a 2.25" pipe from the cat-back. My shit looks stock, but it will be great for the ZC. It is a little louder, but not bee-can sounding. It did actually help the top-end of the d15 just a little bit...I don't feel the power fall off at 5K like I used to....it pulls all the way to redline then I start smoke screening the peeps behind me cuz my motor has 212k on it and bad rings

You need to get your digi cam and take some pics of it. Someone here may recognize it and be able to help out a little bit. Try to also get pics of the pipe between the catalytic converter and the muffler too.

If someone just slapped a chrome muffler onto the stock pipe, you have looks and no performance increase (which may be the case given you have a flashy big tip on it.) In relation to intake/headers/muffler, the muffler system provides the least amount of gain in terms of performance.

I chose the sleeper look, because I didn't want every ricer out there revving on my cuz I have a big tip sticking out of the back-end

i like the way i have mine, 2.25 pipe, no cat(no smoke either) resonator, and no muffler, it only gets loud at around 4 grand, just a steady rumble until then
