iDrive

I was wondering if any of you have checked out the new 7-series sedan, and iDrive. What do you guys think about it? Hate it, love it, and why?

It's cool but it's version 1.0 of something... and v1.0 always isn't as good as it should be.... from everything I've read the iDrive has way to many functions built into so few controls that it makes it very hard to use.... the big-wigs at BMW couldn't even remember all the functions that iDrive had. They all estimated that it had between 700-800 functions. That's rediculous, I'd rather just drive the car than learn how to use its electronics. its probably better suited for a fighter pilot

Today, I went down to my local dealership and test drove the new seven. I can assuringly say that it is probably the best car I have ever driven. I was also orientated to iDrive. Some people say that is too complicated and has too many functions. Well yes there are a lot of functions, but it is very easily understood because of its logical layout. Many of the primary functions such as the radio, navigation, and memo pad, can easily be used without taking your hands off the wheel by using the voice activation system. If you wish to change the radio station without using the controller all you do is push the voice command button on the steering wheel and say "Radio." The system responds by saying "Set Radio Station," then all you say is your desired station, and it automatically starts playing. Absolutely fanastic! Yes, at first iDrive is incredibly intimidating, but once you begin to use it, you become accustom to its operation. I have also test driven the Mercedes S500 with its Command System. iDrive proved to be much easier in operation and much easier to pick up on. So before anyone says that it is way too complicated, you should try it out for yourself. I think you will be just as surprised as I was!

True to BMW styling, EVERYTHING in that car is exactly where it should be. Get behind the wheel of that german perfection on 4 wheels it will just make your proud. I personally can not wait to see the 760 v12 that monster is a clear imporvement over the already amazing 750
