can I use my same rings ?
hey guys, I have a question, I have to replace #3 piston and block is ok so i went to junk yard and pulled a piston out of another motor, now i do have a new rod bearing but cant find rings for just one piston so can i use same rings? do you think they will reseat and be ok?

How many miles are on these rings? If you had good compression before then they should seal back fine.
If the motor hasn't been rebuilt before I would recommend to go ahead and replace all the rings while your in there. It wouldn't take long to do a quick hone and rering it. Also some new bearings and you would be good to go.

If its just a backup car I would just put them back in, I just recently had to replace a bent rod and I reused the rings and they sealed back perfectly. They only had 15k so I wasn't worried about it to much. I wouldn't touch the rings or cylinder walls just put them back in. Worst happens they dont seal up as good as before but I doubt it would be bad enough to hurt anything
