Fuel pump relay grinding

97 with a 2.2 5 speed.something piled up,read codes and ended up changing Crank sensor,Cam sensor and eventually computer.Took it to GM to program it.It still won't start and the fuel pump relay has a fast click in it that almost sounds like it's grinding. If I remove it there is a noise from the ABS that sounds like a small door being slammed shut. Also the cooling fan will start sometimes even when the car is cold.

Re: Fuel pump relay grinding

Check for power and ground on terminals 85 and 86. If it's clicking, then you're losing either power or ground. Could possibly be a bad relay too, swap it with another one of the same size.

For the ABS... possibly a ground issue or caused by the voltage spike when the F/P relay is removed. I wouldn't worry about that.

The cooling fan will also come on when the A/C pressure exceeds a certain PSI, so if the defrost is on, that's normal.
