I have 1997 buick lesabre custom. it has the tan convertible top on it
I'm not sure of what the material is made out of , i am told its canvass.... I just called up a nearby shop to find out how much its going to cost to repair or replace it and they told me $1000!!! I could take pictures sometime soon of the damage , but let me tell you. On the top itsself it is falling apart, pieces are coming up and it is cracking all over, i'm afraid to wash the stop at a car wash in fear that it might come off. Its in badshape!! I am wondering if this is something I can do myself to replace the top. Or do i have to take a to a shop?

Re: 1997 buick lesabre CONVERTIBLE TOP REPLACEMENT?
I've never heard of a Lesabre convertible. Is it a custom aftermarket job? Anyhow, no you likely cannot do this job. You'd need an expensive industrial sewing machine designed for thick canvas, the material, the knowledge and experience in how to make a new top, and then the ability to install the new top.
Pay the $1000 and be done with it. |

Re: 1997 buick lesabre CONVERTIBLE TOP REPLACEMENT?
no its not a convertible top, its made out of the same material that a convertible top is. its like a canvass top or vinyl top.
have you ever seen buicks or caddilacs with the canvass top on them?? the roof doesnt go down lol, its just a normal car just that the top is made out of a different material its not paint or paintable |
