2000 zx2 s/r throttle position sensor

hi,
i have a zx2 s/r with 236,000mi on it and just discovered that the throttle position sensor is at 16.9% when there is no pressure applied to the pedal and 94.5% when fully depressed. it starts just fine and idles fine and there is no check engine light. will replacing the tps return the position to 0% or is there some reprogramming involved? on a side note, i have not messed with any adjusting screws on the throttle body or anything else. thanks!

Re: 2000 zx2 s/r throttle position sensor

Welcome to AF!

The TPS settings are normal for your car. If the idle position was set any lower your engine wouldn't keep running. Also, if you adjust the lower end of the setting it will lower the maximum power setting costing you some horsepower. If the TPS was rotated the other way it would increase max power, but your car would idle too fast. The TPS settings are never absolutely 0% to 100%. Usually somewhere in between.

Re: 2000 zx2 s/r throttle position sensor

thanks dave, for the welcome and the information. my wifes 2000 pontiac montana is just like how i thought that it was supposed to be. 0% at no throttle and 100% at full throttle. i assumed that my zx2 would have to be the same. i guess that i dont have to worry about it then. thanks again!
