LS1 TA vs. 05+ GT Stang

I was heading home from dinner last night cruising on the interstate with the t-tops out full from the all u can eat ribs. I was rolling in the fast lane at 70 and I passed a Mustang that was a couple lanes over. I was ahead of him by like 10-12 car lengths when he jumps over into the lane next to me and catches up quick and lines up beside me.

He was in the gear he wanted to be in when he rolled up beside me because his shit was loud and sounded sexy as fuck. Well I quickly put mine into 3rd and we slowed to 60mph. As soon as I heard him go I floored it and put a car on him immdiately I might have gotten a little more on him than that car but he was right there till 120 when I shut down.

We lined up one more time from 60 again and I got him by a car and a half and help it till I shut down at 115.

The old lady gave me props on the second run she said "you whooped that ass, didnt you?"

I think the Stang had an exhaust but not sure. I have lid, k&n, slp loudmouth, A4...

Nice race man. I have heard the 05+ Stangs are fairly similar to the LS1's in drag racing but have never really have a chance to go after one. Keep em' coming!

Yeah, other than exhaust I thin it was stock but it was fun beating him twice. I get killed al the time in my GTP by Mustangs so it was fun gettin revenge.

Re: LS1 TA vs. 05+ GT Stang

Nice kill man! You definately have the advantage if he was close to stock. We walk 05+ GT's in my friends 99 z28 m6 quite often and he just has intake and catback. Lately they have been messing with me too for some reason. I never get any clean races with them since for some reason they like to jump me but i always gain my ground back plus a few cars by 110 or so.

Im not fimiliar with the A4 but the M6 LS1 definately murders the stangs on the top end.

Well the 05-09 Mustangs aren't the most aerodynamic shaped vehicles. When compared to a LS1 Fbody the Fbody is a damn missile in comparison. They have the advantage up top for sure... less air to push out of the way.

True, the LS1 has incredible power for the price. One of the great things is it is they power more than they are rated for. If they were truly 305hp as they are rated us VR4 owners wouldn't have such a problem with them. As usual we both upgrade at the BPU level in most cases. LS1 F-bodies are usually are main challenger as far as stock/bpu VR4 owners are concerned. The VR4 has better low end power and the LS1 has better top end from my experience. Of course, this is just in a drag race. I love the competition! LS! F-body > VR4 as a general platform of drag racing I would say. There is a guy runnin gmid 8's with his TT stealth but in all reality the F-bodies were meant to drag as that is in their blood. Both cars make for a very good race and LS1's kick serious ass!

Re: LS1 TA vs. 05+ GT Stang

I drove my GTP all day yesterday trying to figure out a noise coming from my suspension that Ive been getting since adding the GMPP suspension kit.

I dont drive it at all anymore unless its raining or Im going to pick up a lil smoke and after driving it yesterday I kinda miss it but I will just have to keep on missing it because there is no comparison at all between the 2 cars.

I love my TA and after swapping my magnsfow for the SLP loudmouth I love it even more. It sounds angry now!!

Re: LS1 TA vs. 05+ GT Stang

I get alot of challenges from 05+ but it always seem there is too much traffic to run but they do sound good with aftermarket mufflers.

Re: LS1 TA vs. 05+ GT Stang

Bro, that was a really nice kill. That guy didn't know you had the A4 his car sits to low. For all he knew you were banging 6 gears.

Just from personal experience I think he was modded more than just exhaust cause he wouldn't have picked on you unless he thought he had a pretty good chance of winning.

Good job using the noodle and forcing the downshift.
