Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3

Up until now, for a long time I've only built classic / vintage cars. However various build threads of this kit inspired me to try it out too. This has to be my record for time taken from purchase to built kit, which was six months, as most just end up in the one day pile....

It's completely box stock, and I think turned out pretty well! I was nervous about messing up the black window trims, and also the glass screenprint, having had problems in the past with paint bleeding under masking tape. In the end, I decided to use a very fine gundam marker to define the edges cleanly, and then a tamiya paint marker to give even coverage. This worked well, and is a technique I will use again.

Such a quick and easy build has also helped to restore my modelling mojo

Nice and clean work. Looks like it was a fun build. For a box stock build, the ride height looks decent. What type of clear coat did you use?

I agree! There's an additional sprue compared to the regular 911 kit, and this included everything for the different ride height (all struts / uprights, lower arms & also driveshafts) as well as the GT3 rear spoiler and front bumper. However it can't really go any lower at the back as the rear tyres are almost touching the body inside the wheelarch.

The body was painted with a Halfords spraycan - the colour is Fiat Broom Yellow. I didn't use a clear coat on top, as it's not metallic.
