HVAC Blower Problems

Hello,

I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 Van, the HVAC blower has been giving me some problems,
First of all the selector speed switch was sloopy so a put a recycled switch in and I was
able to use high speed only, I then replaced the fan speed resistor to get my multiply speed
back. Just driving down the road or at a stop the fan will quit totaly, no speeds at all.

Here is what I have done, I checked the 50 amp blower fuse, checked the high speed fan
relay, that was good, I have the ground on the blower connector, but not the 12 volts, I can jumper 12 Volts from the battery to the motor connector and the blower motor will run.

Thanks,

Re: HVAC Blower Problems

The dark blue wire should have 12 volts. It comes from the ignition switch. The black/orange wire is power from the 50 amp fuse to the ignition switch. See if there is power going into and out of the ignition switch. If there is non coming out than its probably a bad ignition switch.

Re: HVAC Blower Problems

Airjer,

Thanks for the response, is the ignition switch attached to the key cylinder directly, or does it have a link running down the steering column to the ignition switch at the base of the column?

If it requires air bag and steering wheel removal, it has to go the shop then.

Thanks,

Walky

The ignition switch is at the base of the column and has a link rod coming down from the lock cylinder.
