Question 93 s-10 stalls when put in gear?

I started replacing parts in the start to get rid of the surging now it wont run right, replaced fuel pump, sending unit, pick up coil, coolant switch, gasket under TBI,cleaned egr, bought another exact motor for parts to swap out to check other possibilities,IAC,map, tps, ign mod, dropped cat not clogged, new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, new computer, what next? I'm running out of ideas and money for this truck, low miles thats why i bought it,by now I could of dropped a 350 in it. need help and some more ideas.

It only stalls when you shift it into gear? Did you check that everything is okay with the transmission and linkage?

Re: 93 s-10 stalls when put in gear?

I bought the truck with the linkage already goofy, have to lift up the shifter to start? wont start in neutral either?but will start in reverse, never had this problem before all this surging, possible neutral safety switch? going to change 02 next and the neutral safety next and play with the linkage to at least get correct.would the linkage cause all this?

Re: 93 s-10 stalls when put in gear?

I'm not really familiar with these trucks. I just happened to help a friend out with one a few years ago who had a no-spark and no-fuel problem on his manual. But it may be a neutral safety switch of some sort. Like you said, the linkage is already goofy so I would figure that out before spending more money on the engine.
