synching crank sen.& cam sen.99 5.7 vortec

Hope you guys can help with this one. Changed intake gaskets on my 99 k-3500 5.7l vortec. After running a few minutes the check engine lite comes on. Code says crank & cam sensors out of synch. Reset lite & tried again. Same thing. Truck runs fine. Is there a sequence I'm missing?

With the engine at tdc on the compression stroke of cylinder 1, check to see if the rotor is pointing to a V shaped pointer on the edge of the distributor base with an 8 on it. This is the first part of the normal method, the second part involves using a scan tool to monitor the cam retard and fine tune the distributor position, do a search on the net for P1345 and GM, and if you need pictures just click on images after you get the web results
