Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
My rear A/C seems to be working fine except that no air (or very little) seems to be coming out of the vents--I made sure the intake was not being blocked but no change--makes no difference whether fan is on high or low. I can hear the blower motor going and the lines are cold --Can anyone shed any light on this.? 2002 GMC SAfari

Re: Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
Do you have rear heat as well?-- maybe air is coming out lower ducts and is stuck in heat mode...if so, time to open up the panel and look in behind at the situation....

Re: Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
Hey I appreciate your post and took off to the driveway as soon as I read it but... The rear A/c and the Rear heat are on two entirely different systems--they are on seperate blowers & vents-- It didn't stop me from trying though--but in the end no air was coming out the floor vents when the A/C was cranked--looks pretty simple--just seems the air cage attached to the rear blower isnt pulling any air- through although it sure sounds like it--Maybe the air cage (I think that's what it's called) is loose or somehow not properly attached to the blower motor and not getting any rpm's--thus not developing proper air flow---I'm going to pull em out this weekend and figure this thing out.. Will let you know...

Re: Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
Must not be factory rear air/heat system-- is this a conversion van? that an upfitter did the rear systems? if so - good luck diagnosing it...

Re: Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
The rear A/C and rear heat systems are completely separate in a FACTORY installation. The rear evaporator can very easily clog with debris, bust, hair, etcetera. Try cleaning the evaporator before proceeding.

Re: Rear A/C--Running but not Blowing
Hats off to the Blue Bowtie-- You called it! I did not even think of that being an automotive A/C, although I had a simular situation in a window unit at the house---Anyway I got a sprayer filled w/bleachwater and a garden hose and a shopvac--protected interior w some visqueen and it works great now! Thanks to All!

Regardless, if your evaporator is clogged with "bust" you're hauling entirely the wrong kind of load. Either than, or I need to hitch a ride. Just don't tell Mrs. Bowtie. Glad you got it. Many times, it's the simple things.
