Fixing your light on the HVAC controler

So where is the A/c or the rear defrost button?

Gotta turn on the lights to find them?

The first step is to remove the controls and take out the back four screws.

Don't forget to remove the knobs...it won't come apart if you don't.

Remove the the two screw holding the circuit board to the panel front

Find the light that are not working...The four on the upper board on the left.
Next you must flip the board over and use a soldering iron to remove the burnt out lights and solder in new ones.

New on the left and old lights

Make sure you test the controller before putting the dash back together...you might have to re-solder some of the lights as I did.

There, now I can find them

BTW, There is a chevy and Olds controller in the pictures.

Olds on the top.

When I went to first tackle this job, I couldn't get the controller apart because I didn't pull the knobs off the front. So I got a second controller for $10, but all the same lights were burnt out. So, I figured I could break one. And then I figured out the magic of knob removal!

Cheers!
