2003 Cavalier AC Problem

I have an 03 Cavalier with an AC problem and I'm hoping one of you can advise me. The AC wasn't coming out cool at all so I took it to the dealer.
He flushed it, filled it and added dye. He told me he saw no leaks, but the system was almost empty when he started the job, so there may be a leak somewhere.

Anyway here's the problem. When the car is moving, the AC works fine, but when its stopped and idiling, it blows out warm. Even with it on max ac setting. Nice and cool when the car is moving along, but as soon as I stop at a light or something, no AC.

Any ideas on what would cause this?

Thank you all for your time and advice!

You need to take it back and get him to recheck it.
It could have leaked back down or it may have a rad fan cooling fan problem.
A pressure gauge test of low and high side will tell him if it is low on r-134 and or if the system is working and cooling right.
If it has leaked out/down with the dye that was added the dealer can find the leak easy.
In the mean time take a look at the rad fan and see if it is working good and no rad air blokage and make sure the engine is not running hot.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: 2003 Cavalier AC Problem

check your radiator fan, if it is not working and you come to a stop, it will blow hot air.

Re: 2003 Cavalier AC Problem

would the compressor be a reason why the fan is not working?

I think this is the first time I've seen someone posting after being told that a thread was old. Start a new thread and I'll be glad to answer your question.
