Blower motor not working

1989 Buick Century Estate Wagon 125K miles 3.3L V6
About a year ago the blower motor in my car stoped working on low, med-low and med-hi speeds. The only one that worked was Hi. I lived with this problem because I didn't have a/c. I recently recharged my a/c system but didn't bother with the blower motor. About a month ago my blower motor stoped working all together. I checked the fuse and it is fine but there is no power at the blower motor. Does anyone know what the problem is, any help would be great.

Re: Blower motor not working

The blower motor resistor is a good start. High speed bypasses all the resistors that drop the voltage which in turn makes the fan run at different speeds. It is possible for the resistor to burn out completely which will cause all the speeds not to work.

Re: Blower motor not working

I replaced the blower motor resistor the yesterday and the lower speeds are now working but the hi speed is not. What could be causing this?

Re: Blower motor not working

On newer cars, the blower relay is part of the resistor, but it's separate on your car. All speeds but hi go through the resistor, the relay controls high speed. The relay is mounted under the hood at the firewall on a bracket with many other relays. There should be a cover over them with a legend for which relay controls which circuit (as they all look alike).

Re: Blower motor not working

I looked under the hood and found four relays at the front of the passenger side next to the headlight. None of them are labled as to what they go to. I took resistance checks on the relays and one had a higher resistance and looks like it has gotten hot but does not seem to be bad. I had it sugested that the switch in the panel might be bad, what do you think of that idea? And if anyone can tell me what relay I need to focus on that would be great.
