2000 Venture, Replace Water Pump
Looks like my 2000 Venture water pump is beginning to leak (135K miles). Any tips, tricks, special tools on doing this successfully? Looks like it will be a bit hard to get to. Thanks.

Re: 2000 Venture, Replace Water Pump
Did the one on our 1998 last week, it was quick and easy. I would think that the 2000 van wouldn't be much different. You need a 3/8" drive breaker bar for the belt tensioner, a 10mm combination wrench and ratchet with 10mm socket to remove the pulley (loosen the pulley bolts before removing the belt - that actually was the hardest part to get the 4 bolts loosened). I didn't drain the radiator, but I parked the van on ramps and put a big pan underneath to catch the antifreeze after pulling out the old pump. Our pump was held in by 5 screws and I took them off with a 8mm combination wrench.
You should be able to get the repair guide at autozone.com
