Trannsmission fluid on garage floor!

Yesterday I pulled our 1999 Taurus in to the garage to check the front brake wear.

I noticed that there was oil on the floor, and it turned out to be transmission fluid.

We just bought this car about 3 weeks ago (only 63,000 miles) and this is the first time I seen the leak (I did not notice any leaks when I change the engine oil last week).

The previous owner did not drive the car on longer drives like we do.

I noticed the LOWER transmission oil cooler line (at the transmission end)
has oil at the connection point (to transmission).

Is this a common problem?
Is the seal common to breakdown?

They are a common failure point. We usually replace the screw kin part of the connector. There is an "o" ring in there that will start leaking. Good luck
