Sars

I know this is off topic but I was wondering about this. I dont want to scare anyone but, I was wondering if it was possible to catch SARS Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, if I order something from HLJ. I have been reading up on it and know that it can be spread through droplets by sneezing and coughing or by direct contact, I was just wondering since HLJ is in Hong Kong. Tommorow I am going to recieve my HLJ shipment...

SARS is like a cold, and is transmitted by bodily fluids like saliva and mucus. As long as the HLJ workers didn't sneeze into your box before they sealed it, you should be fine. And even if they did, the germs probably couldn't live long enough to make the overseas trip.

HLJ is in Japan, Gunma prefecture, about one hour north of Tokyo. Where did you hear it was in Hong Kong? HLJ=Hobby Link Japan.

Hi Jay~ It's transmitted through droplets. But you are correct... the "virus" will not survive especially through shipping coz the duration is too long.. Normally the virus can stay on the surface of a room temperature for up to 4 hours.

This SARS crap sucks. If the problem persists, I may not be able to go to Montreal for the 2003 F1 Grand Prix . But hey, better missing that than catching that crappy virus.

Alright im not sure what it was, but about 6 years ago there was a virus that was spread from south asia by the shipping of products to south america. I'm trying to remember the name and more of the story but it happened such a long time ago.

But anyways, hopefully our amazing medical researchers can come up with a vaccine soon.

So 10 people in 30 million die from SARS and you're scared to leave the house? More people die every day from the common cold. I love how panic spreads from the media.

Do you know panic could make your body weaker and easier to get into SARS? be healthy and everything be fine. prevention is needed, but not panic. Still happy and healthy...

most people associate hong kong, and all thsoe other asian cities as one place, Japan, so dont get smart on us

i would not be scared of SARS
considering there are 5 billion people on earth and only a couple thousand have got it, its not that big of a deal IMO

I think everyone is over-reacting. I live in Toronto like Midnight Racer and I try not to let this "SARS panic" get to me. Looking statistically(in canada anyways) only older people and people with weak immune systems are becoming very ill and/or dying, while people in good health are recovering from it.The panic around here is quite bad though as Asian run business are doing badly and asian organization are getting threatening phone messages, even kids(the younger ones) in school are being isolated.

So you are telling me you didn't know the difference between Hong Kong and Japan either then....
