inop gauges,2000-up

i searched and found nothing addressing inoperative gauges for the b15's. what i did find was there is no voltage regulator/stabilizer on the circuit board for said gauges. i do believe that the 14 screws (3-gas,4-tach,4-speedo, 3-temp) holding the gauges to the circuit board act as a ground. some were barely tight at all (loosely snug). i also found that the fuse box diagram lists them as "meters" --??? wtf!??? so, when i removed the fuse, the blades looked kind of cruddy, i switched it out with a better-looking fuse. i do believe (and hope, and pray) that one of these was causing the problem, because they are working fine, for now (-knock on wood) i also left the plastic cover (?) off the back of the housing, as it seems to serve no purpose other than 12 more screws to remove/replace. also, i have a nagging feeling i may be taking the cluster out again, which really wasn't too bad to do anyway-10mm nut driver and a phillips screwdriver.
if anyone has any more insight about this, PLEASE, ADD TO THIS! it seems to be a common problem, with no help from my local nissan parts

Re: inop gauges,2000-up

well , my "solution" lasted two days. they are back to the same thing. i found a pretty easy, temporary fix, tho. whenever they freeze up now, take your right hand and smack REAL HARD above the gauges! it may take two, maybe three smacks depending on your strength, but they pop right back into action. until someone comes up with a real fix, i guess this is how i'll be handling this. i don't have a few hundred bucks for a new set of gauges, to MAYBE fix it right. also, i have bigger fish to fry.

sounds like you need a new cluster. look for a partout and they usually go for less than 100 bucks shipped.

Re: inop gauges,2000-up

quick update!: after finding my temporary "solution", i find the gauges seem to be working fine now! after the first initial set of "hard knocks" they have quit acting/working erratically! KNOCK ON WOOD- but i think i may have rattled something together/apart to keep them working like they are supposed to.
