Getting Started...

I'm only 15 right now but i am extremely interested in being part of the racing scene ASAP (mainly street racing, *F&F reference removed* ) anyways i dont know much other than the limited basics on cars and i was wondering if anyone knows anywhere online i could read up on everything, from stock to aftermarket. I already have a car but i highly doubt its good for racing (2002 pontiac sunfire stock...accelerates extremely well, but spedometer only goes to 110 =/)

So i was just wondering if anyone would take me under their wing and give me information? I will most likely be trying to get into some sort of class in my high school for this as well. (engineering type class)

Re: Getting Started...

Stick with me and you’ll do great.

First things first, you’re going to need a new speedometer. 110mph just isn’t fast enough for street racing.
Second, you’re going to need a short shifter to cut down on shift times. If you have an automatic, that’s even better. Machines shift much faster than humans do.
Third, get some neons. They don’t help you win races but they look cool as hell. You’re going to want to look cool when you beat all the other guys out on the street. I’ve probably gotten the most girls with this.

You only have one post though, so I’m not going to give out all my secrets just yet. You could be one of my enemies trying to do just that, know what I mean?
Stick around and I’ll slowly let you in on all the tricks of the trade.

Re: Getting Started...

Dear god get rid of that Fast and the Furious reference before anyone else can see it!

If you look around this forum you'll probably find some half decent information, but you are asking for trouble in this thread.

Just be safe.

HAHA, sunfire, good one.....j/k.

Everyone has to start somewhere. But if you are starting to drive dont street race, much less in a car that cops can catch at 30% of their throttle. Go really learn to drive by going to a road course or autocrossing.

Bud, your lack of experience isn't a problem and neither is your age. We all started somewhere. The problem lies in you referencing the Fast and the Furious. While it was entertaining it is in NO WAY accurate as to what we're all about here.

If you want help here then we're happy to do so. Just know that the Fast and the Furious crap doesn't fly around here.

How come everyone hates fast and the furious? How is it so far from real?

Re: Getting Started...

I don't have a problem with the first or third. While technically inaccurate, I found both very entertaining and fun to watch. I don't blame any of them for ricers and the idiot factor of weaving in and out of traffic or any of that. It was around LONG before any of the F&F movies came out. They just brought it more or less to public light.

And hell, its what got me into cars. Well, among other things. It was the thing that really got me into the after market and such. But, saying you saw it, and now you want to street race, isn't the way to go about it. I personally have no problem with street racing in certain aspects, but thats just me. Its up to the individuals, really.

But why is it so inaccurate? I wasnt saying its what got me into street racing, but it was one factor that boosted that dream.
