OBD2 Question...

Hi,

I bought an code reader which can follow Protocols:

• PWM
• VPW(M)
• ISO 9141-2
• KWB2000 (5baud unit und fast init)
• CAN

But they tell me everytime they cant connect to ecu...

So my theory is that I must change one of the Pins...

On my Lumina is the Pin useing:

2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 16

But when we have Pin 2 what is for PWM+ we need PWM- that is on device Pin 10 and I think I must change pin 9 to 10 or 8 to 10...

What is your theory?

Re: OBD2 Question...

If your '98 Lumina was built for European export, it was not likely OBD-II. It may have the 16-pin socket, but will probably communicate in ALDL mode. That would require a scanner capable of communication with 1994-95 GM OBD systems.

Re: OBD2 Question...

It was for US Military in Germany...
It is a standard 16 PIN socket.

Re: OBD2 Question...

There is a good chance it was either EOBD compliant (like Benz) or 1994-95 GM OBD.

Re: OBD2 Question...

Hi,

I got an new Adapter, and have used some software, like scantool.net, the Senors I can read, but when I shut off the engine, and make the key one turn, the abs and engine light is on, but all software cant read trouble codes, and all software says MIL is off.

Its an elm322 J1850 scanner, any ideas? Which software is good for this?
