Question shifting problem

I have purchased a 2002 PT Cruiser about 6 months ago. No issues with the car even with the high mileage (134K now). Last week, I went out to drive the car and it would not go into gear while running. After some looking around, I noticed that the front bushings needed to be replace. I order the part and have replaced them. Still no luck in getting the car to shift while running. No idiot lights on the dash, no funny noises. This literally happened overnight. I drive this car every day as it is my only means of transportation. Any ideas of what might be wrong with the car??? HELP!
