Camaro / Formula engine cradle change

Hi,

I have a 1994 Pontiac Formula and I need to change the engine cradle. Engine cross member, sub frame, k frame.

Can this be done without dropping the engine out of the car?

I see the camaro site in much busier than the pontiac web site. Please help. The car is a 1 owner, with 50k miles. The rest of the car in in good condition but the front frame is rotted where the drivers side contro arms bolts in

Thanks

Re: Camaro / Formula engine cradle change

I'm not a 4th Gen expert, but if you are going to replace the K member/engine cross member then you will need to lift the engine off it it.... as that is the only item that is supporting the engine. The only way to get the engine out is through the underside of the car. Therefore, you will need to lift the body of the car off the front drivetrain (removing the complete suspension system, engine, and trans to make it easier, all at the same time). Then lift the engine off the member, unbolt all parts to be reused, replace, put back together, lower engine, lower car body.
