Re: 2002 ford taurus many issues
I'd start by making sure all the vacuum lines are connected and in good shape along with the intake air tubing between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Was any work done on the car under the hood recently? If so, you might start in that area, looking at vacuum lines and electrical connectors.
If everything looks fine, then you might start by replacing the DPFE. They are known to fail and could contribute to your P1401, O2 sensor codes. If the EGR system is know functioning properly, it might also cause the bank 2 misfires, or they may be an independent issue. I'd start with the EGR system though. -Rod |

Re: 2002 ford taurus many issues
Thank you for your quick response. About 2 months ago while again driving on the highway the car just shut down and slowed to a stop and did not start back up. Had it towed to a shop and they sayed that the fuel pump had went. Had them replace that and the fuel filter also had them change the spark plugs and wires. The car had a little chugging action going on and a friend of mine had someone blow my fuel line that seemed to help until this happened. Cedar Rapids Iowa been there before Lumberyard 2!

Re: 2002 ford taurus many issues
A fuel pump would be consistent with the symptoms you describe for the previous issue. I don't recall ever hearing of someone needing to blow out the fuel lines on these cars, especially if the sock on the pump is attached and the fuel filter installed.
For what you're currently experiencing, I don't think it will be a fuel pump issue. Often when they fail, you'll get stalling, the car won't start until it sits for some number of minutes (fuel pump cools down) then it will restart and act fine for another day or two. Filling the tank with fuel sometimes delays the time between stalls too (the fuel acts as a heatsink for the submerged pump). You could put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail though and make sure the pressure is in specification. -Rod |
