Roof rack and hi-lift

Do any of you carry your hi-lifts on your roof rack? I just bought a 60" model. If so what brand roof rack is it and how did you attach the jack? I see nothing available for my Surco rack?

Pictures too PLEASE!

CD has a Surco rack and has his High-Lift, Axe and Shovel mounted on it.
He got mounts for it from somewhere.
I'll try and send him and email to tell him to the info post here.

KargoMaster has the adapter brackets for a High-Lift but, I dont remember how much it cost. Im not sure if it would work with your Surco rack either, but its worth looking at.

rrdstarr, I used the axe/shovel mount to mount my hi lift to my Surco rack. The Surco part number is AX100. My jack is 48" but I don't see why this wouldn't work for a 60" version.

ps - the dials you see on my mounts are not included in the kit from Surco. They include regular bolts.

Crazy!!!

Perfect! That is just what I will do then! Adapt the shovel mount to work with the hi-lift! Are those locking dials you have on the hi-lift? I can't quite see the detail of them?

Donated parts

They are locking knobs from an old Thule Rack I had handing around, rain gutter mount type, nice to see them put to good use. I think Thule still makes them.

CD,
Where did you purchase your Surco rack? I found them at a few places, but don't have any Xterra specific racks, only Pathy racks. Thanks.

Surco Rack

Dog,

I got mine at Overlander.com, you'll have to buy the Xterra specific mounts for the rack. With shipping and everything it was less than $220. This is the link below!

Thanks for the help. I knew the racks that overlander sells were Surco, but I called the a few days ago and the dumbass told me they weren't. Anyways, that looks like the rack I'll go with, probably place my order in the next week or so. One other question. Did you order the spare tire mounting kit with yours or is their an easier (read cheaper) solution to getting my spare up top? Thanks

Dog

I used tie-down straps when my spare was on the roof. Worked fine.

There's a 40x50 Surco Safari rack on Ebay starting @ $115, with a $150 buy-it-now option still available.

Spare tire

Dog, I went the expensive route and got the spare tire carrier. It should be here in a week or so! I'll post photos as always!

Mr. T's solution works too. I just want a lockable solution and my garage is too small to get the Xterra inside!
