Does the sound always mean pump is going out?

Couple years a go, I would hear a sequel, whistle kind of noise.

Found it to be coming from the fuel pump. I noticed it not always, but mostly on hot days. Eventually, the pump went out.

I replaced the pump. Couple years later, I hear the pump noise on hot days again.

Does the pump noise always mean the pump is going out?

Chris.

Usually this is a precursor, assuming the filter is not restricted.

The pump motor whines if the filter is restricted, due to the additional load.

Re: Does the sound always mean pump is going out?

I put a new filter in a year and 4 months a go (1 year warranty). How would it get restricted in a year when it didn't get restricted in 10 years?

There is no way to determine what gets in the tank, I am not saying it is restricted, I am suggesting, aside from the pump possibly going bad, this can be another reason for the pump whine.

What kind of pump did you install "Airtex"; or one of the better quality pumps? Do you run low on fuel (below 1/4 tank) on a regular basis?
