Mgb Tach on and off have to tap to work

I have to tap the tach to get it to work. I works fine sometimes not at all others.

check carefully to see if the pointer isn't hanging on the meter face or the glass lens. If it is you may be able to carefully bend the needle. If that doesn't it needs to be repaired. A good automotive instrument shop can repair it.

Check the connections on the back. One could be slightly loose. PJ
