93 GT, need help
Hey all,
Got a 93 GT 5 speed for free, been sitting for 5 years, but ran when parked. Problem is when trying to start there is no fuel pump sounds and the starter makes no noise at all. All the dash lights come on and the button is down on the fuel pump cutoff thingy. Battery is fully charged headlights and everything else works, checked all fuses I can find. What am I missing here? This is a car for my daughter and would appreciate any help.. thanks |

Re: 93 GT, need help
Could be a bad switch. Troubleshoot the starting circuit and make sure you have power where you need it.
If you have the know-how... unplug your ignition and use some jumpers to determine if the switch is bad- maybe worn and not making contact where it needs to. The starter comes out pretty easy if you want to take it off and bench test it. |

If I was you , I would get myseld a noid light with a long wire and clamp on it then start looking. that will get you going with the starter and the Fuel pump issue?

Re: 93 GT, need help
Are you depressing the clutch when trying to start? The clutch switch will keep the starter from turning over. A safety device to keep from starting in gear. If nothing is heard when the key is turned to start the fusible link could be burned out or the solenoid is bad. To check the solenoid, run a wire from the + lead of the bat. to the ignition switch terminal on the solenoid, marked S. If the starter turns over the problem is in the ignition switch, clutch switch or wiring. If the starter still won't turn over take it out as moose says and have it bench tested.

Have the battery clamps been removed and cleaned? Does the battery have water? If this has not been checked in 5 years I'd do that first.

Re: 93 GT, need help
Got it going, runs great. The clutch switch is not adjusted right and had to hold it down by hand.
