1996 Lincoln Town Car BDA
i have a 96 town car and the blend door actuator motor went out a few months ago. that was fine and good during the cold months cause it was stuck on hot, but now i could use a little AC. i dont have the time or money to replace it right now... i know they are only like $70 but hey, times are tough. i heard about a temporary fix by getting under the dash, disconnecting the motor, and moving the door manually with a screwdriver.
my question is, has anybody done this and if so could a get a little help with the location? |

Re: 1996 Lincoln Town Car BDA
Since money is tight, you might want to look into stuff like this: (quick google search for free blend door fix)
http://www.blenddoorfix.netfirms.com/ Only problem with that, you wont know where the actuator is broken till you pull it out.

Re: 1996 Lincoln Town Car BDA
I have same gig on my BDA for same reasons with my '97. I read this 2008 post from "towncar" who seems to have nailed the BDA fix from all angles where he states he just moved the door lever with a screwdriver after disconnecting the motor power cable...
This solution might help us BUT...after dropping the glove box and checking this out on my '97 Sig...I'm myself trying to ascertain 2 obstacles with this fix in the scenario of just dropping the glove box and not the entire dash board: 1) How to get to and unplug the power cable to the BDA and 2) How to access the door lever with the screwdriver from that angle? |
