1994 k1500 solid axle conversion

I have a 94 chevy k1500 looking to do a conversion to a dana 44. I found some kits for sale, but only ones that convert to a dana 60 rear. Looking for some help on where i can find the parts to go to dana 44? Thanks

You can get in a world of hurt doing swaps like that.

Best place to find parts would be a good salavage yard.

When you say a world of hurting, do you mean trying to do the swap in general, or the swap to a dana44?

Re: 1994 k1500 solid axle conversion

When you go to the bone yard pay close attention to the suspension in particular. It would be much easier to take the tbi motor out of your truck and put it into an older style 4x4 truck with the dana diffs. My brother just picked up a 81 4x4 454 four speed dually with a GVWR of 26,000lbs and 35,000 miles on it for 1500.00. Body was rough, but frame and drive train were excellent. You can buy a rolling chassis with good cab & fenders for ~500.00, spend a weekend switching it around and have an indestructible vehicle for very little money and not much effort. Just my .02 ... or less depending on the economy.

Yeah my original plan was to build the older style chevy. But there is a good many locally that are lifted. I wanted to go with the newer body style to be a little different than everyone else
