Do all 3rd gen RX-7s (1993-up) still have that awesome feature where the back wheels turn in the opposite way the front wheels do (like the 2nd gens) so that going around corners is suuuper fun, and you get the incredible cornering power too???

Yeah, what are you talking about? I've never heard of that on an RX-7, or any Mazda.

I doubt any rx-7's have that. I could be mistaken but have never read about it, heard about it, or seen one with it.

i don't know about 3rd gens but 2nd gens sure as hell do. it senses a slide somehow and adjusts the camber of the rear wheels to couteract. check out any good rx7 site and you can buy rear steer eleminators so that you can drift better

Do you have a FC? I don't know where the hell you guys come up with this stuff. Can you supply me with documents stating that this is in fact true? I have owned 2 gtu's and a turboII and I they were not equipped with this mecanism, none of my friends FC's do either.

DTSS = Dynamic Tracking Suspension System. Basically, it means that Mazda put loose bushings in the rear end so that the rear wheels could "steer" a little bit when the car experienced side loads, kinda like a cheap 4-wheel steering. It's easier to look at a picture than for me to explain it. If you give send me a PM with an email address, I can send you some pages that I scanned from the 88 brochure.

I'm not surprised at all. That's not technically four wheel steering, since camber is different than the wheels turning, however, I have heard of this technique being used before in vehicles. 1988 or so Volkswagen Jettas even had something similar to that. It's quite simple technology, so I wouldn't doubt a techie car like the RX-7 having it.

It had an independent, Dynamic Tracking Suspension System with trailing arms, triaxial floating hubs, camber control links, coil springs, and a 12 mm anti-roll bar (14mm with the sports suspension). The company claims to have applied for more than 100 patents on their Dynamic Tracking Suspension System independent rear suspension. With DTSS, the rear wheels become an active component of the steering system, changing from toe-out during low lateral force cornering to toe-in for extra stability during high lateral acceleration cornering situations and to reduce oversteer which had been a problem on the 1st generation.

From what I remember yes, only the FC's had that...

Personally I don't like it.. especially since I'm and un-experienced driver the car feels really loose out back... and well I don't like that... need those damn rear-steer eliminators from Racing Beat.
