'01 - rear glass won't open

My '01 LS won't release the glass... so I can't let down the tailgate
I've tried pushing / pulling on the glass while hitting the release button.
I hear the stepper motor activiating but no joy on popping the glass.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to get the glass to release manually? I tried prying the plasic inner panel out with no luck (I'm about to cut into the stupid panel ... or break the glass !!)

any help would be greatly apreciated !!!!
Tony

Re: '01 - rear glass won't open

Tony,
There is a way to open the glass. My daughter is having the same problem except we get no sound of any kind trying to open.
What you need to do is find a small hole in the pannel in the top middle behind the carpet inset, just below the plastic. take a thin screwdriver into that hole and there is a lever that needs to be moved to the left. that should release the glass. I found this on the net last night and try and find it again and post the link.

Hope this helps,
Carl
