Wheel/Tire Vibration
I replaced the stock 17 in wheels and tires on my 06 X5 with 19 in factory new wheel/tire take offs. I now have a "wobble" at 45-60 mph. I have had the wheels rebalanced and tested for trueness. Everything checks out ok. The 17 in combo was very smooth. Any ideas?

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
I received a recommendation to take my vehicle to a shop that can balance the wheel and tire while mounted on the vehicle. So far, I have not found a shop that can do this.

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
If you have the stock wheel on and the vibration is not there, then you put the aftermarket wheels on and you have a vibration then the problem is your wheels/tires. You could have a bent rim, seperated tire, wrong wheel offset. The only recommendation I can give you is get them road forced balanced and if that does not help and you do not want the stock wheel on the vehicle, then you will have to live with the vibration and the cost of repairs on suspension.

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
The wheels that I purchased are new car take-offs from a 2009 X6. They are genuine BMW wheels. I can verify this. The person that sold them to me says I probably need to purchase "hub centric spacers" because the 2006 X5 has a 74.1 center hub, and the 2009's have a 72.56 hub. Can anybody verify this? I have had the wheels balanced twice and they are right on.

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
Sorry, I had it backwards. 2009's have a 74.1 hub and 2006's have a 72.56 hub. Has anybody installed hub centric spacers?

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
You are correct about the hub center from the X6 wheels to the X5 wheels. Good Luck.

Re: Wheel/Tire Vibration
Thanks. Actually, I made a typo. The new car take-offs were from a 2009 X5 not an X6. The hub size for the 2009's are the same. 74.1 and 72.56 for the 2006 model. I really hope the spacers work.
