1994 Grand Marquis intermittent no spark HELP!
I have a 94 Grand marquis (122k) that has been running fine until last week. Now sometimes it will start and other times it won't. This morning it would not start before work, but it started right up when I got home in the afternoon. It always turns over fine and fuel pressure at the rail is fine. No spark is the problem. What can cause an intermittent no spark? When it does start, it runs fine and has never quit once started. I have a Haynes repair manual with the wiring diagram in it, but I can't really tell from that where to start troubleshooting. Could a cam or crank position sensor cause an intermittent problem? I have a test light and volt/ohm meter, I just don't know where to start.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: 1994 Grand Marquis intermittent no spark HELP!
The crank sensor is a likely culprit. It is located behind the A/C compressor on the passenger front of the engine. Also, check the wiring under the front bumper cover. They are bad about corroding inside the loom. Usually under the passenger side under the battery tray area. You will see a wiring loom looped down and water collects in there. Look for a broken brown wire, or a green and red wire to be corroded. Good luck.
