rpm's out of control!!
ok so i have the 1989 honda accord lx with the carburetor and when i start it up cold she idled normally at about 2500. now normally after a short drive it would the idle would drop to about 800 (like it should) but over the weekend after the warm up the idle goes crazy. like 4500 rpms crazy. Any suggestions on what i should check would be gr8ly appreciated. thank you in advance

Re: rpm's out of control!!
I have little experience with carbureted engines but I would check for either vacuum leak of sticking throttle/cable.
Good luck, Sam

Re: rpm's out of control!!
oh man it's been a while for a carb on a Honda...trying to remember.
First thing to check is see if the throttle plate bellcrank is sitting on the base idle screw when warmed up, or if a choke pull-off or throttle kicker solenoid or vacuum pot is holding it open. If nothing is nolding it up off base idle, try pushing it down into the idle position, see if there's interference or a cable hang-up, etc. If it's an automatic tranny, make sure the transhift cable (if used) isn't blocking it open somehow. It shouldn't but stranger things have happened. Sometimes you take the air cleaner off and see it's just a vacuum line or wire that got misplaced and is blocking the linkage open...
