95 SL2 Transmission won't engage
Auto transmission started whining today. Drove it home, now it will not engage. Added 1 quart of fluid, no change. Will engage immediately after starting engine, then starts whining and will not move. Any ideas?
Thanks!! |

Re: 95 SL2 Transmission won't engage
146,000 miles. Records show transmission was overhauled at 115,000. I bought the car from my sister at 130,000. Fluid has not been changed since overhaul. No slams. Has shifted great until yesterday!

Re: 95 SL2 Transmission won't engage
Is there any tranny (red) fluid leaking from the tranny? Especially the bell housing. Im leaning towards a busted differential pin.
All gears the same? Any codes ? (SES LIght on?) ECTS Replaced with a brass one? Your car has two, you need to replace the one with the two-wire connector.

Re: 95 SL2 Transmission won't engage
There is some fluid leaking. Replaced ects last month. No lights showing. All gears the same. My mechanic told me today the trans was toast. Guess I will go ahead and overhaul it. Hate to spend that kind of money!

Check the differential pin. Ive posted the video to check it thru the VSS. I think yours busted a hole in the tranny. Get a tranny from the junk yard. '93-'97 MP& will work no issues
