thinking of buying a 98 escort, any known problems?

Was wondering if there are any common problems to watch out for or avoid all together? I saw one advertised for 2800 and although I have not looked it over yet, it looks very nice for that price, is that a common price tag? Any info about the 98s appreciated!

I work at ford and they are very good cars.
Have a look at the rear springs and sometimes noisy
fuel pumps.both are easy repairs.

The 98+ Escort/Focus have nasty fuel pumps, rear springs break, but over all there very good cars for the money.
