Mustang CAR-icatures...

I've had this project for months now to do some toons and driver caricatures
for the staff of an on-line Mustang site and never produced anything that I would show anywhere.

Decided to start them over agin and use them to practice and push my skills.
(Seeing Lemorris' great set of toons for the VW dealership did help encourage me to try again.)

Here's the first one with line work and than finish design.
The smoked lens covers were a real b-witch to figure out for this car.

Re: Mustang CAR-icatures...

Looks great!

I'm nit picking here, but the the lining up of the character's chin, with its neck/collar, is catching my eye...which it shouldn't. In design it's called a 'tension point'. If you were able to shift the collar to the left (ever so slightly), that visual problem would be resolved.

Made some progress on the second one, but struggling a bit to get the Teal color right.
This one is going slower...

Re: Mustang CAR-icatures...

Thanks!

GB--luv those early fox body Mustang, but that teal color has become my new black.
The color is driving me crazy. Every teal ref photo looks to be a different shade.
Tried to split it between the blue and green shades.

Re: Mustang CAR-icatures...

Thanks Dom, and yup, changing my technique now allows me to "freehand" in some of the line work using a stylist and tablet.

Finished, now on to the next...

Re: Mustang CAR-icatures...

Working on the next one, it's got a crazy background story that
I won't even try to explain.

Re: Mustang CAR-icatures...

GB--thanks, but still having no fun with black cars. I spent more time changing the base color and high lights than I did on drawing the rest of the CAR-toon. uughhhh!
