1999 Intrigue recall on steering shaft and joints

Did anyone have there steering shaft or joints replaced on their car due to the recall????

I don't believe there was a recall for the Intermediate Steering Shaft. There is a Technical Service Bulletin and I believe they revised the part to a new design. But to my knowledge I haven't heard of a go to dealer replacement recall for this issue.

There's many posts on the forum for ISS lubing. I did it about 20,000 miles ago using a can of liquid wrench spray grease from the inside of the car, down inside the steering shaft.

Let us know if they recall this part. There's a lot of us out there with clunking steering shafts!

At the Motor Trend link pasted below there is information about two recalls concerning the ISS and the steering knuckle. There are recall ID numbers and phone numbers that you can call to see if your car is affected. It doesn't look like too many were (especially concerning the first one) but it's worth checking out.

These recalls appear to be for Dorman manufacturing parts. I'm familiar with Dorman from their aftermarket line of equipment. Are these parts what a shop might have used to fix cars, vs. the actual assembly line parts that the car came with?

If these are aftermarket replacements that a shop would have used, what's the chances of the supplier finding the cars these parts are installed in? It's nearly impossible I would think. Unless the owner of the car knows for certain that the replacement parts used were Dorman parts..
