its a 96 thunderbird if you turn switch to parking lights the tail lights work but nothing up front. if you switch it to headligts again just tail lights and headlights no orange markers. checked fuses under hood and the box under driver side dash. when you arm the alarm they dont flash eithor just tail lights and horn honk. dash lights all work too..ANY IDEAS?

Re: 96 no parking lights

First thing-Have you checked the bulbs to see if they are ok and the sockets make a good tight connection to them? Do your front turn signals work and are they bright? The turn signals use a seperate filament so if the lights flash it doesn't mean the filaments for the parking lights are ok. It just means you have a good ground connection to the bulbs. There are three connections and one splice that have to be clean and tight for the front parking lamps to work. The secondary junction block under the dash and to the right of the steering column is the first connection. The second is the 76 pin connector that goes through the firewall in the top far left. The third is the connection at the bulbs. The splice is in the headlamp junction harness in front of the battery. The wires from the four front parking lamp bulbs are spliced together at this point so you can just trace the wires to this splice.

Re: 96 no parking lights

You're welcome. I'm glad you found the problem and can fix it easily. I'm not positive but they are probably 16-18ga. Put a piece of shrink sleeve over the wire and far enough down the wire so that when you solder the connection, the sleeve doesn't shrink. Once you have the connection soldered then slide the sleeve over the joint and heat it to make a water tight seal. Sometimes a hair drier on high will work to shrink it.
