Looking for a used/rebuilt engine for 2000 Isuzu Rodeo

About 9 months ago, my wife's 2000 Isuzu Rodeo engine seized on her while driving on the interstate. We have asked several mechanics for pricing on either a used/rebuilt engine, have been quoted several thousand dollars be each on. We were told that the engine is rare.

Do any of you know if an engine out there that we could use? We have asked several junkyards and have found little success. Thanks.

It's not common but I wouldn't call it rare. Assuming you have a V-6 engine, a local wrecking yard here in Spokane WA has one. It's out of a 2001 Rodeo, has 55k, good oil pressure and they want $2300 for it. Of course, plus shipping then you'd have to install it or pay someone to install it. BTW, the website is www.spaldings.com if you wanted to look it up.

I know Walts out here in Springfield Ohio had a 3.2L engine and a 2.2L engine they were asking 2,000 for either. Their number is (937) 864-7336

Re: Looking for a used/rebuilt engine for 2000 Isuzu Rodeo

on ebay I've already found a V6 3.2L DOHC. It's from a 2001 rodeo. Has 101k miles. These things can last if taken care of. You're not only limited to the 3.2L v6 DOHC, you can also use a 3.5L v6 DOHC, which will fit right in without any extra work. You also have the option of the 3.5L v6 DOHC Direct Injection.

3.2L 205HP, easy swap
3.5L 215HP, also easy swap
3.5L DI 250HP, will need new ECU, but it is still a relatively easy swap.

I think the 3.5L DI would get better gas mileage, but I'm not totally sure.

Just letting you know what your options are just in case you stumble upon one of these engine.

But it all really depends on your budget. Cheapest solution is to find an engine off another isuzu at a dump, which is risky because people come and take what they want, and ive seen engines filled with water.. If you look online you can find amazing deals and I would say it's a safer approach. Something I would personally prefer.
