Why do you want OBD2? Many of use with 96 swap to OBD1 pcms.

The OBD1 is VERY cheap to tune and datalog and some tuners actually claim a little more power out of OBD1 on the same car back to back dyno runs.

What i like about OBD 1 is how you can do the little paper clip trick to short the 2 terminals and count the check engine light blinks to determine which error codes you have, not sure if you can do that wit all obd 1 systems but i know on my 83's dinosaur computer you can

You won't be able to "paper clip" the 1995 ECM for either the L99 or LT1. You would need that ECM to use the OptiSpark, and that ECM requires a bi-directional scanner to retrieve codes.

thats what i thought, i knew later obd 1 systems would be a little more advanced then the early ones. jus curious, up to what years were you able to paper clip an obd 1 system?

What they are is garbage. You can buy the datalogging software, the programming software and the data cable for OBD1 for less than that POS cost too.

In other words looking to swap in an OBD2 pcm so you can run Hypercrap is a REALLY REALLY BAD idea. Granatelli is garbage too, as is Jet, "throttle enhancers", IAT resistors, B&M shift improver and lots of other "simple upgrades for computer controlled cars".

If the programmer was given to you sell it on ebay, if you bought it try and return it.

I would definitely listen to what '96 has to say about this, he's an expert with this stuff. You're better off with a laptop computer with the proper interface cable, and programming software to do the job. Like he says, it's cheaper and the end product is better.
