1993 taurus sho
Have a 93 sho 3.2, looking for a timing belt tensioner. Apperantly its different than the 3.0 sho motor. Its the kind that is spring loaded and hydraulic that you have to collapse in a vice before reinstalling. I can push this one in with my fingers and it doesn't hold enough tension on the belt. All the parts guys act like you are speaking a different language so I was wondering if someone on here was familiar with these motors and could point me in the direction of one of these parts. Thanks
Andy

Did you try the dealer or a professional parts house? You might also try Fast Parts Network.

Re: 1993 taurus sho
discontinued from the dealer. I've tried autozone, orielly's, advance, etc. They all don't show anything. NAPA has something ordered but I'm sure it will be wrong. The one they sent before was for a 3.0 and it is different than the 3.2. When they look it up as a 3.0 it comes up with 2 parts, one they sent me before and is wrong, and the other is what they have ordered. I would settle for a used one and am looking on ebay with no luck.

Re: 1993 taurus sho
I just looked on fast parts network. It gives an exploded view of a 3.0 and the belt tensioner they show is the one that I got the first time but i guess they are different than a 3.2

You might try CincySHO.com or shotimes.com for potential sources.

Re: 1993 taurus sho
Thanks man. I got just the right amount of springs jammed in the old tensioner that it seems to be working pretty good. But now it seems to have lost spark and I was tired of messing with it so thats as far as I have got.

Re: 1993 taurus sho
If you by chance had a leaking water pump, or maybe knocked the Crankshaft Position Sensor during the timing belt removal, you may need to reposition the sensor or replace it.

Re: 1993 taurus sho
You will laugh at this. I kinda threw it all together just to try and run it with my newly fashioned tensioner and I didn't put the two bolts that hold the intake crossover tube in place, they are the ground for the ignition module as well. So now it runs and all is good. I bought the car for a few hundred bucks just to have a beater to run around in but it seems to run good enough that I might start fixing it up as it is kind of a neat car. Thanks for your help.
