guages don't work

i just bought a 97 neon and the guages don't work all the time. the fuel and temp. guages work most of the time but the speedo never does. i took the dash apart and found that if i push on the connector for the cluster that the speedo will jump around. if i hold it really steady the speedo works fine. does anybody have any ideas? please im desperate.

You need to resolder your gauges....

Re: guages don't work

That other Neon site seems to have re-organized. Try this link instead:
http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=263363

It worked about ten minutes ago. (sat. April 4th, 5:45 CST.) Then bookmark the link, or print out the topic.

If you use a good magnifying glass you may be able to see the cracks in the soldering around the pins on the circuit board. I fed in a small amount of new solder, with rosin flux. All gauges have worked perfect since then. Plus I have done the same repair to Neons belonging to family friends. The last time I did it, I think it took 20 mnutes.)
