The "Orange Crusher"

As you can see, my first post here - so please forgive me if I have overlooked an obvious post regarding this. Certainly I have not spotted the information I am looking for after a quick flick through here...

Some of you will be familiar with AutoBarn Models' 1:43 scale F1's. I have a few of them and one is the so-called "Orange Crusher" GTR, a model that AutoBarn produced only 50 of for Japan.
I am hoping to learn it's chassis number if possible and, even better, find a better picture of the real thing.
Because the model was a Japan Exclusive, I automatically assumed the real thing was in Japan, but I guess this may not necessarily be the case.

This picture is one I found a few years ago on Yahoo Japan:

Re: The "Orange Crusher"

Those two images are of GTR #11R, and I would say that it is the GTR that AutoBarn's "Orange Crusher" model most closely replicates. GTR #15R is a close second, but lacks the roof scoop/air intake cover.

#11R has not been to Japan so far as I am aware, though in the past year or two it has fallen off the radar screens so to speak and could have ended up there. Based on a selection of images I have of this AB model, it appears to have been released in late 2005, and at the time GTR #11R was for sale in Germany and had spent time recently in Sweden as well.

Re: The "Orange Crusher"

Most certainly 11R.
11R was co owned by 2 guys, one German, one Swedish, hence the reason it has been seen in both those locations.
No information as to its fate of late but should my fortunes change I will waste no time finding out.

Re: The "Orange Crusher"

Fantastic - thanks a heap, guys

From that, I found some pictures of #11R right here in the forums. Amazing how quickly you can find stuff when you know what to look for...

Sami Aaltonen, I have 3 AutoBarn F1's; 029# (the Burgandy Rowan Atkinson car), #061 (Brazilian Brown), and the Orange Crusher, apparently #11R.
I also have a silver 'Press Release' version of the F1 (the XP3?), built by Davis & Giovanni (a modified AB kit). They are all excellent.

I used to own an XP5, a metallic orange LM and another Papaya Orange LM - but have since sold them.

You have those two reversed actually.

Otherwise you are most certainly welcome. Let us know if there's anything else you are looking for.

D'oh... I typed that out at 100mp/h and never noticed my mistake - what an idiot

Thanks again, though, you're a rock-solid bunch in here, that's for sure.

Kai Schwanke sold #011R on behalf from Tom Meissner to a very good friend of mine in Italy in 2007, that's why it's off the radar.

I wish the new owner of 11R the greatest of pleasure in her and hope he actually drives it.
