Completed! Tamiya Porsche 911 (996) GT3 OOB 4-day build

Most fun! Build straight OOB in 4 days for a OOB contest on Russian model forum. Will sure do that again!

Thanks!
Alex

Wow, that was fast! Came out looking terrific.

I have the same kit, and am planning to exactly the same with it- quick, simple OOB. Maybe some of us make this hobby harder on ourselves than it needs to be.

Nice work Alex. I'm still perplexed how you can glass finishes without using sandpaper! I don't think I could get the same finish just starting with polish.

1) I assembled the wing after I had painted it. Must have been a polished nightmare with it assembled and attached to the body.

2) Should the red in the tailights be extended to the edge?

I think sandpaper is what "makes" the finishes not smooth! Seriously though, I do use sandpaper, very little though cause most of the time there is no need too.

I did the same thing. Polishing was a nightmare - I do not recommend that.

Why yes. I have "custom" headlights and taillights on this one - no orange blinkers up front and "non-factory" stop light configuration. There.

Thanks!

Great stuff and really a fast build. Takes a lot of concentration finishing a build that fast.

Oh...and the wheels look sweet. This must have been a hell of a masking job on the spokes. How did you achieve that? Simple masking?

Robert

I always wondered what happened to the yellow GT3 you had (started) on your home page for ages.

It finally grew up into a beautiful black Porsche!
