Re: High fuel pressure
Maybe its restricted further back by the tank, pump, or in the pump?

Re: High fuel pressure
Direct the return line into a bucket, (where you took it apart by the fuel filter is fine). Turn the ignition to the RUN position, but do not start the engine. The fuel pump will run for approximately 2 to 3 seconds and then shut off. Check fuel pressure while the fuel pump is running. If the pressure is 60psi to 66psi, the restriction is rearward of where you took it apart. If the pressure is above 66psi, the problem is forward from where you took it apart.

Re: High fuel pressure
see what i dont get it is with the truck running and a fuel gauge hooked up to it if u hit the bleed off button on the gauge it drops right to 60 and runs fine but if i unhook the return line from the quick connect next to the fuel filter it runs rough still ill try unhookin it farther back but it doesnt really make sense to me if it was a clogged return and i take it off and it comes out fine with high pressure and runs the same how is it going to be farther back if there was a restriction back by the tank when i unhook the line it should run fine.. thanks though

Re: High fuel pressure
There are NO published "engine running" fuel pressure specs. There are far too many variables involved to specify a certain pressure that would apply to all situations. ALL fuel pressure tests are done with the engine off and cold. Keeping that in mind, go back and run the test described in post #4 and post your results. Make sure the fuel pump is running when you check the fuel pressure.
